5 Things I LOVED in Our Homeschool This Year

As we wrap up the school year, and begin looking forward to next year, I want to share with you 5 things we really and truly loved in our homeschool this year!

Before we jump into my five favorites, I want to let you know that my homeschooling course, The Art of Home Education, is open for enrollment! With six modules, over forty video lessons, workbooks, and more, this course is designed to help you make the most of your homeschool! Find more information, or register here!

Okay, time to jump into these favorites! Now, I have been homeschooling for ten years now, and consider myself a varsity player. This does NOT mean that I am an expert in your family, kids, or homeschool, or even an expert in curricula, but I have tried a lot of different things over the years! These curriculums/resources are some of the best that I’ve used, and I do think you’ll find a thing or two that will work for you and your kids!

The Good and The Beautiful’s new Simply Math curriculum is a vast improvement on their previous math! It is simplified, and so enjoyable. In fact, one of my children often asks to KEEP DOING MATH!! He’ll often go through 3-4 lessons a day because he enjoys it so much.

Now, I’m not typically a fan of what one might consider “busy work”, like what is typically found in workbooks. However, the series of BOB Books workbooks are excellent! You can use them easily in conjunction with the BOB Books readers as well, as each page shows which book correlates to that lesson.

I have really enjoyed the literature units by Stacey Lloyd on Teachers Pay Teachers for my older girls this year! Now, these are written for a classroom, but are easily adapted to fit your homeschool, as you can pick and choose which elements you’d like to use. Check out her grammar units and writing workshops as well!

As a lifelong learner, I absolutely LOVE Wondrium! Formerly The Great Courses, it’s chock full of videos that are excellent for building electives courses (as I like to do for my daughter in high school). I’d recommend this resource for middle school and up, but you may find content that works for your elementary students as well!

For years I’ve struggled to find a science curriculum that works for us, but I’ve finally found the one! Straightforward, fluff-free science that’s easy to understand! There are mini courses, printouts of each lesson if you or your students prefer reading over listening, unit reviews, and tests. This right-brain approach to science is a winner for us!

What did YOU love in your homeschool this year? Will you add any of these resources next year? I’d love to hear from you!

XOXO,

Angie
